“It took vision, commitment, and the cooperation of many people to create a thriving farm business. Now, I want to bring that same strategy to St. Paul.”
—Jack Hedin
When Jack Hedin and his wife, Jenni, and brother Ed started Featherstone Farm more than 30 years ago, they had three acres of land, a rented tractor, and the dream of helping to build a better food system.
Today, Featherstone grows $3 million worth of certified organic, certified fair labor vegetables for people throughout the Upper Midwest. But Jack didn’t do it alone. Instead, he gathered a truly diverse community of neighbors, fellow farmers, small business partners, and immigrant and local labor.
Now, as Jack sets out to represent Senate District 26 in the Minnesota legislature, he does so with the conviction that creating something of lasting value takes more than one person with a vision; it takes the collaborative effort of people with diverse talents and ideas.
“Together, we are going to work like crazy to make life better for people right here in this community.” —Jack Hedin
JACK’S PRIORITIES
Protecting local businesses: Independent businesses are the backbone of our towns. As someone who has built and run a business for thirty years, made payroll, and managed real-world risk, Jack knows what it takes — and what’s at stake.
Defending healthcare access: Every family in SD 26 deserves affordable, accessible care. Jenni’s work as a mental health provider across the district has shown Jack firsthand where the gaps are and who gets left behind.
Strengthening public schools: As a school board member and a Winona public school parent, Jack understands what our kids and teachers need from St. Paul.
Standing up for immigrant workers: Featherstone Farm’s certified fair labor practices aren’t just a business decision — they reflect Jack’s deep, personal commitment to the people who grow our food. He will carry that commitment to the Senate floor.
Clean water and healthy environment: Jack is committed to protecting our water and land from threats of all kinds. As a Minnesota Senator, Jack will work to promote common-sense, win-win agricultural practices like cover cropping and small grains production.
